Privacy Policy

The short version: the Overhead 1090 app doesn't collect your data — no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking in the app. Its App Store privacy label is "Data Not Collected." This website (overhead1090.com) uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages people find useful; details below.

Data the app handles — and where it stays

Aircraft data from your receiver. The app connects to ADS-B receivers on your local network. Aircraft positions, callsigns, and related data are received directly from your receiver and displayed on your device. This data is never sent to us or to any third party by the app.

Device location (optional). If you grant location permission, the app uses your location to center the map and calculate distances to aircraft. Your location is processed entirely on your device. It is never transmitted to us or anyone else. The app works without location permission — you can set your receiver position manually.

Settings. Your preferences (receiver addresses, display options) are stored only on your device. Nothing is synced to iCloud or any other cloud service.

Network connections the app makes

Your receiver — on your local network, to fetch live aircraft data.
Maps — the app displays maps using Apple's MapKit. Map imagery is requested from Apple by the system, under Apple's privacy policy; we receive nothing from those requests.
Demo mode uses sample data bundled with the app and makes no receiver connection.

The app contains no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.

Data we collect

Through the app: none. We do not collect, store, sell, or share any personal data from the app.

Through this website: overhead1090.com uses Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the site — pages viewed, how you arrived (for example a search engine or a link), approximate location (country and city, derived from your IP address, which Google Analytics does not store), device and browser type, and time on page. Google Analytics sets first-party cookies (_ga and _ga_8V4GPJ152T) to tell visits apart. The data is processed by Google on our behalf under Google's privacy policy; we see only aggregated reports. Detailed event data is kept for 14 months. We don't sell it, use it for advertising, or combine it with any other data.

Visitors in the EU/EEA, UK and Switzerland: Google Analytics cookies are off until you choose Accept in the cookie banner; if you choose Decline (or make no choice), no analytics cookies are set. You can change your choice at any time with the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page. Your choice is stored only in your browser.

Opting out: block cookies in your browser, use a content blocker, or install Google's Analytics opt-out add-on. The site works the same either way.

Children

The Overhead 1090 app does not collect data from anyone, including children. The app is rated 4+. The website's analytics are aggregate visit statistics and are not directed at children.

Purchases

Purchases are processed by Apple. We never see your payment information.

Changes

If a future version of the app changes any of the above (for example, adding optional crash reporting), we will update this policy and the App Store privacy label before that version ships.
